Amidst defection crisis that has rocked the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC across the country, the federal government has directed all members of the party in the camp of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki holding various federal government appoints to resign or be sacked.

Information and Culture Minister, Alhaji Lai Muhammed who gave the directive yesterday also expressed the intention of the federal government to dissolve the executive of the Kwara state chapter of the party under the chairmanship of Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani and conduct fresh congress.
According to the Minister, the development was as a result of wide consultations with stakeholders in the state explaining that there would be another congress from the wards in order to produce fresh APC executive in the state pending when Alhaji Bashir Bolarinwa’s leadership would take off in the state.
Speaking further, the Minister stressed that it is unacceptable that members of the party who refused to desert the party would not benefit from the government, while those who have decamped to other political parties would still hold on to the political appointment of a party they have dumped warning that if they fail to resign from the appointments as directed, the federal government would sack all of them unannounced.
Lai Muhammed who said that the consultation’s that led to the directives was with the knowledge of the national chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole urged members of the party in the state to remain calm stressing that the doors of the party remains widely open to members who are willing to return to the party.
He also exuded confidence that the ruling party would win the gubernatorial election in the state in 2019 election, adding that the electorates will also vote overwhelmingly for the reelection of President Muhammad Buhari and his vice Professor Yemi Osibajo and that the resolution of the party would be made known to its national leadership who would also decide the date of new convention for the leadership of the Kwara state chapter of the party.
”For six members of House of Representatives to decamp from All Progressives Congress, APC in Kwara state to other political parties, we don’t need a rocket science to know that all of them are no longer with us.
“They cannot continue to enjoy the political appointment of a party they have dumped, while those who are our genuine members, still in the party don’t have such benefits”, the Minister stated.
Meanwhile, in a quick reaction to the development, the chairman of APC in Kwara state, Hon. Ishola Balogun- Fulani said he remained the authentic chairman of the APC in the state and that he and other members of his executive were duly elected for a period of four years.
“My attention has been drawn to a communiqué purportedly issued by the minister of Information and Culture, Alh Lai Mohammed calling for the dissolution of the Kwara state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by me. I want to state as follows
“That I remain the authentic chairman of APC in Kwara state, that my executive committee members were duly elected as APC executives in Kwara state for a period of four years. That myself and other members of the Kwara APC executive committee remain members of the party.
“That only last Wednesday, I attended a meeting of APC States chairmen forum in Abuja that we were not aware of any APC stakeholders meeting in Oro, as neither myself as the state party chairman nor our Kwara south senatorial district chairman, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun convened or attended the meeting.
“We therefore urge members of our great party and general public to remain calm and discountenanced the statement credited to Alh Laid Mohammed”, he added. Culled from Nigerian Pilot
